Hiked down to Pedernales Falls before leaving the park
Drove in and out of LBJ Ranch – decided we had enough LBJ – won’t ever see his shower.
Stopped briefly in Fredericksburg. This is a trinket hunting destination for people from Austin and San Antonio. We walked a two block round trip seduced only by a bowl of Texas chili. Unfortunately, we should have taken a hint from everything else we saw in this town and skipped this unfortunate meal.
Drove to Seminole Canyon Archaeological Park near Del Rio, TX. Planning to continue on Rte 90 to Marfa and ultimately El Paso.
Along the way we again saw the markers on the roadside that we remembered from our Big Bend trip in the late ’80s. Somehow on that trip we had a book that was a guide to every historical marker in Texas. In honor of this we stopped at a couple. Here is one along Rte 277.
Camped in Seminole Canyon State Park. Great sunset followed by rise of full moon. Very quiet. Windy night in tent, noisy flapping about of the fly. Wifi available throughout campground, though no cellphone service.
Changed plans to go no further west. We realized that, with our March 1st deadline to be back in Hudson, our idea of going to California and then driving to Willits in the northern region of that state was not practical. Head north towards Santa Fe tomorrow.
