Mark’s father gave him a set of Buck chisels and a sharpening stone for his birthday in roughly 1956 – may have been a Christmas present. In his view the most memorable part of the gift was a lesson in how to sharpen chisels and by extension other cutting tools.Buck Brother chisels were the Cadillac of chisels made in the US at the time. Still well regarded.
Mark’s collection of chisels has grown a bit over the years. Same sharpening stone. BTW – the stone is actually not a stone but a product of Norton Abrasives (now part of Saint Gobain) in Worcester MA – a combination abrasive benchstone – coarse on one side, fine on the other.
