Office in the Barn – part one

Thursday 10/15/2105 - where is the airconditioner going?

Over the summer of 2015 I mused again on having an office outside of the house. After discovering that renting even a cubicle at Alan Coon’s place above the Spotty Dog was $250 and a separate office would be $500 and more per month I gave up on the idea again.

Then one day while putting the trash out I suddenly realized that if I moved all of the junk that had been piled up in the right rear corner of the barn I would have enough space for an office. After several weeks of planning, thinking, investigating things further I cam to the conclusion that for about $1500 in materials I could build an office. I went back and forth about adding more windows, worrying about the 20amp limitation on electrical power, and the dampness of the concrete floor after rain….. all of these turned out to be soluble.

Once construction began with the physical layout of the floor system it became evident that the 4×4 post that hold up the second floor was placed incorrectly on the drawing. So the door will not be as shown, but on the other side facing the alley.
